Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Bender (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Banks tries a head kick but it misses.
Tom Bender seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bender closes this distance looking for a takedown but Banks circles away. Bender shoots in but no luck this time. Banks thows a body shot but no joy. Bender dodges the punch combination from Banks.
Banks throws a series of punches but Bender moves out of range. Bender looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Banks is fending him off so far but Bender persists. Nope, Banks circles away and we're back to standing. Nathan Banks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Bender. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bender misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Bender checks a leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bender fails with a takedown attempt. Banks throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bender sees it coming and avoids it easily. Banks lands with a nice body punch. Bender tries to clinch but Banks moves out of range. Nice sprawl there from Banks as Bender shoots in. Bender looks gassed! Banks throws out a loose jab but Bender uses good head movement to avoid it. Bender defending well as Banks loads up on a big left hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Banks lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Banks lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Banks tests Bender's chin there with a solid looking shot. Banks slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Bender shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Banks works the jab nicely. Banks misses with a two punch combination.
Banks swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Banks lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Bender takes a body punch but keeps moving. Banks ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bender moves away. Banks throws a series of punches but Bender moves out of range. Bender misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Nice takedown defense from Banks. No joy for Bender on that attempt. Banks cracks the inside of Bender's front leg. Nathan Banks is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Banks closes the distance and clinches.

Bender prevents Banks from breaking the clinch. Banks wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bender has him pressed against the cage. Knees to the body from Bender.

Bender is trying desperately to land a takedown but Banks is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Bender. Bender jumps guard.
Bender working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Banks doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Banks manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Bender trying to keep a closed guard but Banks is proving a slippery customer.

Banks throws a lazy right hand but Bender sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bender is looking to clinch. Bender showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Banks.

Banks on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Banks tries to get out of the position. Bender takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Bender wants to lay and pray for a moment but Banks keeps working. Bender in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Banks tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Bender!
