Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Adam McQuaid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Mills (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adam McQuaid! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Rob Mills! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Franklyn Lucas and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McQuaid closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mills quickly recovers to half guard. Mills is holding on to half guard well. Mills trying to control from the bottom.
Mills slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McQuaid slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. McQuaid stands up and beckons Mills to his feet. McQuaid fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mills avoids it really well and circles away. Mills looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mills is looking to take this fight into the clinch. McQuaid dives in and grabs Mills's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mills pushes down on McQuaid's head and hops out. McQuaid tries for a takedown but Mills sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Mills throws a counter combo. McQuaid changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. McQuaid shoots in for a takedown but Mills shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Mills shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mills showed some decent athleticism there. McQuaid wants to improve his position but Mills is controlling well.

McQuaid tries to lock up and control but Mills gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Mills has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of McQuaid's face.
McQuaid tries to control Mills's body but Mills pushes him off. McQuaid squirms to his side and now Mills has his back! McQuaid defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Mills's arms. I would not like to be McQuaid right now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mills is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. McQuaid is defending well though. Mills let's go of the attempt for now. McQuaid is in bad spot here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mills is hanging on to McQuaid's back as he tries to escape.
Mills gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. McQuaid trying to control the hands but Mills won't let him. Mills landing with strikes. Mills has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of McQuaid's body.

Mills controlling the position well here. McQuaid rolled but Mills kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

No joy there for Mills, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McQuaid blocks the body kick.
McQuaid darts in and clinches Mills up against the cage. Mills is looking to control McQuaid's arms but McQuaid gets an underhook and turns him. Now Mills has his back to the cage. Mills tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. McQuaid breaks from the clinch.

McQuaid is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mills defends well.

McQuaid is not content to let Mills control the position. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Mills looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

McQuaid's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save McQuaid! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
