PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Josh Clegane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michal Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Josh Clegane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michal Hunt!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt darts in trying to clinch

and Clegane counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Hunt!

Hunt tries to improve position but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee asks Clegane politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Clegane prefers to stall for the moment though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hunt sneaks back into half guard.
Clegane knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hunt on the ground.
Well, if Clegane is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hunt tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Clegane counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hunt is looking to control Clegane's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hunt avoid being mounted?
Clegane slows the pace down in half guard.
Hunt makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hunt.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Hunt is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Clegane throws a body shot but no joy.
Hunt fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

and Clegane counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Clegane is taking a breather. Hunt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Clegane slips a nice elbow through Hunt's hands, connecting with Hunt's forehead.
Clegane lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Clegane controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Clegane trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hunt can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Clegane controls the pace.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Clegane with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hunt is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Clegane slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hunt shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Clegane counters with a nice double leg into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Clegane dominated that round.
That's time! Clegane's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Clegane is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hunt can't fight it off and eventually Clegane manages to take the fight to the floor. Hunt looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Clegane is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Clegane has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Hunt has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Clegane is working away from the top position though.
Clegane is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hunt can do to turn this around?

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Clegane lands a nice short elbow.

Clegane content to control rather than advance.
Hunt is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Clegane scores with a couple of nice shots.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Clegane working over Hunt with some ground and pound. Hunt looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Clegane is nestled in close to Hunt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Clegane lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.


Hunt is rocked!
Clegane perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hunt is still in real trouble! Can Clegane finish him?
Clegane scores with a big shot! Hunt's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Hunt! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Josh Clegane!
