The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burt throws a solid leg kick but Newman takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Burt.
Newman lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Newman looks to land a combination but Burt avoids it well.
Burt throws a right and a left that Newman avoids nicely.

Newman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Burt kicks Newman off and gets to his feet.
Newman misses with a few strikes there.
Newman walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Newman misses with a hook. Burt ducked under it nicely.
Burt thows a left - swing and a miss!
Burt throws a left and a right that both miss
and Newman counters with a three punch combo that has Burt backing up. Burt nods at Newman to acknowledge the strikes.
Burt swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Burt's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Burt duly obliges.
Newman throws a head kick that misses.
Burt half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Burt instigates a clinch.

Burt breaks from the clinch.
Newman avoids a punch combination nicely.
Burt throws a nice looking combination but Newman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Burt scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Newman blocks a head kick by Burt.
Some wild striking there from Newman.
Burt takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Cris Newman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Newman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Burt moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Oh Burt is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Newman looks winded!

Newman closes the distance looking for a takedown. Burt stuffs it but Newman still has hold of him. Newman picks Burt up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Newman slams Burt to the floor and that's really hurt Burt - he doesn't know where he is! Newman throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
