Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Robledo Puch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Volya Nikolaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nikolaev has chosen Fever as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Robledo Puch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Volya Nikolaev!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nikolaev misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nikolaev looks to land a left hand but Puch moved out of range nicely.
Nikolaev shoots in but Puch avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nikolaev swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Puch fails with a takedown attempt.
Some wild striking there from Nikolaev.
Puch was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Puch throws a series of strikes that have Nikolaev backpedaling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Puch with a nice cross.
Puch gets cracked there but stands up to it.
We've been hearing reports that Puch has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Volya Nikolaev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nikolaev walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Nikolaev ducks straight into an uppercut from Puch and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Nikolaev manages to regain guard straight away.


Nikolaev is rocked!
Puch postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Nikolaev is still in real trouble! Can Puch finish him?

Puch keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Nikolaev's head.

Nikolaev is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Puch defends well.
Nikolaev is pulling down on Puch's head. It's preventing any offense from Puch, at least for the moment.
Puch cracks Nikolaev with a solid left hand.
Puch scoring with some ground and pound.
Puch trying to control but Nikolaev is working from the bottom.

Puch is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Puch postures up.
Nikolaev seems to have recovered his senses.
Puch is in close to Nikolaev's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Puch throwing strikes but missing.
Nikolaev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Puch's guard.

Puch looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Puch is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Nikolaev looking to sit in guard and control but Puch gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Puch connects with a couple of short punches.

Nikolaev avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Nikolaev pulls Puch in close to his closed guard and prevents Puch from doing any damage or advancing position.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Puch passes to side control.
Puch lands a decent elbow from side control.
Sloppy strikes there by Puch.
Nikolaev is trying to control Puch's posture but Puch avoids it.

Puch is working Nikolaev over with some ground and pound from side control.
Nikolaev has one of Puch's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
Nikolaev wants to control but Puch postures up.
Puch throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Nikolaev is trying to control Puch's posture but Puch avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nikolaev sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Nikolaev wants to control but Puch is keeping busy.
Puch is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Puch is nestled in close to Nikolaev, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Nikolaev has hold of Puch's hands but Puch slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Nikolaev has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robledo Puch dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A big left from Nikolaev misses.
Robledo Puch is winning the standup battle so far.
Nikolaev slips under a jab from Puch.
A little jabbing left from Nikolaev on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Puch lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Puch slips a straight right by Nikolaev.
Nikolaev slips under a jab.
Nikolaev throws the left hand but Puch avoids the punch easily.
Puch walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Nikolaev takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Nikolaev stuffs the takedown attempt from Puch. Puch gets slowly back to his feet.

Puch is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nikolaev can do to turn this around?

Puch postures up in Nikolaev's guard and throws a big left but Nikolaev blocks it.

Puch stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nikolaev swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nikolaev has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Puch can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Nikolaev tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Puch postures up and lands a big shot to Nikolaev's brow.
Puch working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Nikolaev's head.
Nikolaev looking to hit a scissor sweep but Puch is one step ahead there.

Puch postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Puch postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Puch trying to control the position from guard on top but Nikolaev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Nikolaev has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Puch is working away from the top position though.

Puch landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Nikolaev tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Puch has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Nikolaev in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Nikolaev is in all sorts of trouble here.
Puch working the ground and pound effectively.
Puch postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Nikolaev looks a forlorn figure.
Nikolaev is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Puch fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Puch is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Nikolaev goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Puch!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Robledo Puch!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Robledo Puch waved his t-shirt featuring Machiavelli Boutique's logo in front of the cameras.
