PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sirus Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Don Wilson struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Don Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Jones counters with a series of strikes. Wilson will be more careful next time no doubt.

Jones looks to land a left hand but Wilson moved out of range nicely.
Wilson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

and Wilson counters with a big head kick but Jones shrugs it off.

Jones stalks Wilson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Wilson's face. Wilson staggers backwards, shaken.
Wilson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Wilson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jones.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jones takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Wilson lands a head kick. Jones smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Wilson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wilson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Jones counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Jones lands with a hook. Wilson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Don Wilson will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Jones cracks Wilson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wilson takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Jones ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Jones drops Wilson with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Wilson! Jones dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sirus Jones!
A relieved looking Sirus Jones thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
