The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Anders shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Anders moves nicely into side control. Anders looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Diaz is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Anders has just dragged him back down to the mat. Anders thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Anders tries for a kimura but Diaz is defending well. The strikes coming from Anders are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Anders working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anders working away. Diaz is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Diaz is trying to control Anders's posture but Anders avoids it. Anders tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Diaz is trying to buck Anders off. Anders looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Anders is breathing heavily. Anders working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Anders asserts his dominance and retains side control. Anders tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Anders is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Diaz has escaped the position, nice work there. Diaz wants to get back to his feet. Diaz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Diaz gets back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz tries to kick Anders off but Anders keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Diaz tries to roll over but Anders keeps him under control. Diaz pushes Anders off looking to stand but Anders dives back in and keeps control.
Anders seems to be working for a kimura but Diaz defends the submission attempt. Anders is trying for a kimura here. Diaz looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Anders wins by kimura!
