PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Felix Lora (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tycoon One (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Felix Lora!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tycoon One!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lora wants to clinch

and One counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by One.
One won't allow Lora to get back to his feet.
Lora will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
One trying to control but Lora is working from the bottom.
One lands a couple of elbows.
One postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lora keeping moving, preventing One from controlling successfully.
Lora really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lora is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


That's one minute gone in the round.
One tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Lora not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Lora wants to pass to mount but One is defending the position.
Lora prevents One from standing back up.
One is refusing to be controlled, as Lora sits in half guard.
Lora wants to stand up but One has a hold of him and won't allow it.
One is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
One keeps trying to improve his position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Lora slows the pace down in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

One drives through and clinches with Lora against the cage.
One managing to block the knees to the body from Lora.
Lora avoiding damage as One throws knees to the body.
Lora has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. One is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lora controlling the action here for a moment.
One tries to pull guard but Lora forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
One lands with a short shot to the head.
Lora throws an elbow but it's blocked.

One breaks the clinch.

Lora shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
One wants to stand and escape but Lora is having none of it.
Lora slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if One can do anything to dispel that myth.
Lora tries to free his leg and advance position but One is retaining full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lora is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Lora is stalling in the full guard.
Lora trying to control but One is working from the bottom.
Lora is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because One is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lora seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tycoon One will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


No luck with that takedown attempt from Lora.
Lora closes this distance looking for a takedown but One circles away.
Lora closes the distance and clinches up with One, looking for a takedown. Lora pushes One against the cage but One circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Felix Lora. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lora shoots in for a takedown but One shows good takedown defense.
One moves into range and connects with a jab.
One fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lora fails in his attempt to clinch.
One looks for the body kick but Lora saw that one coming.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
One fails to land the takedown.
One has his takedown stuffed
and One takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
One stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and One wants it to stay on the feet.

One darts in and clinches Lora up against the cage.

Lora breaks the clinch.

One moves into range and clinches up with Lora.

One breaks the clinch.

Lora closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. One did well to prevent Lora getting side control.
Lora prevents One from improving his position.
One wants to control but Lora is keeping busy.
One is looking to improve his position.
Lora throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

One wants to improve his position but Lora is controlling well.

One is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lora pulls his head out easily.
One has a hand on Lora's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Lora takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
The referee warns One that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
One slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
One tries to kick Lora off in order to stand up. Lora Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lora tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
One is looking to reverse the position.
Lora working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
One wants to get back to his feet.
One tries to improve position but can't.
Lora tries to advance to mount but One denies him.
Lora lands an elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

One wants to get back to his feet but Lora drags him back down.
One struggling a bit here.
One is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Lora grinds an elbow into One's temple.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lora lands an elbow.

Lora looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Felix Lora will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



One has Lora up against the cage in a clinch.
Lora's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Lora tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. One smiles and moves away.
One is looking to clinch but Lora is avoiding it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lora changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. One tries to avoid it but Lora manages to keep hold of a leg and drag One to the ground. One escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lora shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has One pinned against the cage. One gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Felix Lora. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick misses from Lora.
One drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Lora defends it well.

One pushes Lora up against the cage in a clinch.
Lora wants a takedown.

One jumps guard and drags Lora to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
One looking to control.
One working a defensive guard but Lora manages to pass into side control anyway.
Lora wants to lay and pray for a moment but One keeps working.
One wants to control but Lora postures up.
One is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lora tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
One is trying to improve his position.
Lora working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
One regains half guard.
One is looking to control Lora's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can One avoid being mounted?
One might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lora haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
One is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Lora seems to be looking for submissions.
Lora frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
One is looking to improve his position but Lora isn't that keen on the idea.
One wants to control but Lora is having none of it.
Lora wants to control the pace but One is squirming around nicely.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Felix Lora.
I think Lora has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
