Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Malik Aker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rory Williams! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Dean Styles and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aker lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Williams shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Aker is trying to defend but Williams finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Aker looking for submissions off his back. Williams is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Williams controlling the pace for now. Williams moves to the back. Williams has the hooks in. Aker is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Aker is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Bullet Proof Dungeon that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Williams has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Aker has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Aker rolls, trying to escape but Williams keeps control of the position.
Aker tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams controlling his opponent. Williams working for a submission but Aker is keeping him at bay. Aker keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Aker tries to improve his position but Williams has taken his back! Williams has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Aker tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Williams pushes Aker away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rory Williams! Rory Williams gave a mention to Arcticus University: London in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
