Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Quintin Day! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brandon Lee! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Day falls off balance throwing a combination
and Lee counters with a nice double leg into guard. Day lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Day working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Lee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Day's guard. Lee throws a big right hand that misses. Lee looks winded! Day working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lee. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Day is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Day wants to stand and escape but Lee is having none of it. Day pulls Lee in to control the position. My spies in Cozad MMA Tokyo inform me that Lee has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Lee got a little sloppy there for a moment and Day has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lee has managed to get both his arms back between Day's legs - danger averted. Day controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee drops back looking for a leg! Day is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Day manages to kick Lee off! Lee jumps back into Day's guard. Lee looking to pass the guard. Day seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Day throwing rabbit punches from the bottom - showing the judges that he's keeping busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Lee is looking to advance position but Day has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Lee is trying desperately to improve position. Day sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Lee wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Good control from Day. Lee just trying to survive but Day is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Day controls the action.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
