The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schultz shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Express defends it nicely.
Express feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Schultzs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Express comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Express lands a nice hook to Schultz's body. Schultz takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schultz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Schultz showed some decent athleticism there.
Schultz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Express is just riding it out for now. Schultz eventually gives up the hold.

Express really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Schultz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Schultz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Express is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Schultz has latched onto it... Big trouble! Schultz pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Express is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Schultz!
