Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Xathras Choate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cletus Landry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Choate comes to the cage accompanied by Dog the Nine. Landry comes into a darkened arena with his song building. country boy kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 16 - 1, fighting out of New York, Xathras Choate! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Cletus Landry! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Landry is looking to slow Choate down with leg kicks. Landry throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Choate on the side of the head. Landry closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Choate doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Choate is leaning against Landry and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Choate managing to block the knees to the body from Landry.
Choate blocks a body shot from Landry. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Choate. Choate takes a knee to the side of the body. Choate works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Choate goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Landry throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Landry tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Choate connects with a leg kick. Landry looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
That's one minute gone in the round. A bone on bone clash there as Choate blocks the leg kick.
No joy there for Landry, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Choate wants to slow Landry down by chopping away at his legs. We've been told by Choate's head coaches at Sweat that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Choate buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Choate uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Landry. Landry looks to clinch and Choate counters with a good low kick that Landry was not able to check. Landry lands a really nice looking cross but Choate seems unphased.
Choate tries a head kick but it misses.
Choate lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Choate blocks a leg kick. Choate connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Landry has closed the distance and engaged Choate in a clinch.

A body shot lands from Choate.

Choate swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Landry gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Landry missing with knees to the body.

Landry has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Choate seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Landry can turn it around. Choate lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Choate breaks from the clinch.
Cletus Landry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Choate takes one to the chin there. Choate throws a head kick but Landry moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Choate takes one on the button. Landry bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Landry throws a looping overhand right but Choate ducks down to avoid it. Landry throws an off balance right hand
and Choate counters with a good low kick that Landry was not able to check. A big right from Landry misses. Choate half committed to a counter leg kick. Choate dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Choate fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Choate changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Landry lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Landry throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Landry rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Choate counters with a straight punch to the midsection. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Landry tries to clinch and Choate counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Choate with a hook. Landry takes one to the chin there. Choate throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Landry's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Landry throws a quick inside leg kick. Landry throws a jab when Choate was well out of range. Landry misses with a combination
and Choate counters with a nice uppercut. Landry jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Choate throws a leg kick which misses Landry's front leg but catches the back leg as Landry tries to avoid it. Landry lands a jab. Choate throws a solid leg kick but Landry takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Choate. Landry tries a low kick but Choate avoids it. Choate wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Choate lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Choate takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Landry ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Choate moves away. Landry lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Xathras Choate will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Landry cracks Choate with a right hand to the side of the head. Landry jabs Choate right on the nose. Choate blinks but takes it well. Landry with a nice cross. Choate tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Landry throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Landry takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Choate lands a big head kick that sends Landry tumbling to the mat! Choate takes a step backwards and waves Landry back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Landry is rocked! Xathras Choate is winning the standup battle so far. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Choate feints with a left and delivers a massive head kick! Landry collapses like a ragdoll! Game over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Xathras Choate! After winning the bout, Xathras Choate thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
