0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Loic Gunines! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gunines closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kangas to the mat! Kangas manages to get full guard. Kangas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Kangas working a defensive guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kangas is really struggling to control Gunines but he's trying to hold on to the position. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kangas holds on and takes a little breather. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kangas is on top in guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Gunines has eaten all the pies! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gunines keeping moving, preventing Kangas from controlling successfully. Kangas drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kangas jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Kangas drops back looking for a leg! Gunines is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gunines manages to kick Kangas off! Kangas jumps back into Gunines's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kangas slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Gunines is trying to control Kangas's posture but Kangas avoids it. Kangas is trying to get an arm triangle but Gunines is defending well. Gunines is holding Kangas down, trying to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Gunines in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Kangas controls Gunines momentarily but Gunines frees himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gunines content to stall in guard here. Kangas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gunines can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Erki Kangas dominated that round. That's time! Kangas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Kangas counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Erki Kangas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Gunines gets caught napping as Kangas dives in and scores a takedown. Gunines manages to retain guard. Gunines is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Kangas dives into side control.
Kangas is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gunines knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gunines can do anything to dispel that myth. Gunines tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Kangas presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gunines defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Kangas. Gunines really wants to buck Kangas off and get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gunines is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Kangas with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Kangas wants to control the pace but Gunines is squirming around nicely. Kangas controlling from the full mount. Kangas trying to control but Gunines is having none of it. Kangas goes for an armbar but Gunines turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Gunines. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kangas is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gunines can do to turn this around? Gunines is stalling in the full guard. Kangas is trying to control the position but Gunines postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gunines preventing the sweep. Gunines tries to free his leg and advance position but Kangas is retaining full guard. Gunines is pushing down on Kangas's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kangas is fighting to maintain full guard but Gunines has managed to sneak the leg through. Gunines performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Kangas manages to get to full guard.
Erki Kangas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kangas looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kangas is on top in guard.
Gunines is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Kangas preventing the sweep. Gunines wants to get back to his feet but Kangas passes into half guard.
Gunines is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Kangas has latched onto it... Big trouble! Kangas pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Gunines is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Kangas!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Erki Kangas! Erki Kangas was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
