Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scaredy McScared! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Cabeza! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cabeza fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Cabeza tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cabeza looks for a takedown but McScared sprawls well. Cabeza throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Cabeza tries to clinch but McScared is having none of it. McScared shoots for a double leg takedown but Cabeza sprawls well. He's pushed McScared's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. David Cabeza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cabeza tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No joy there for Cabeza, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cabeza gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. McScared has hold of one of Cabeza's legs. Cabeza is fighting the takedown attempt but McScared gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Cabeza tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's one minute gone in the round. McScared trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Cabeza is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Cabeza wants to stand but McScared has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Cabeza not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. McScared is refusing to be controlled, as Cabeza sits in half guard. Cabeza really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McScared. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. McScared throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
McScared is trying to get back to full guard. McScared has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. McScared avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cabeza. Cabeza prevents McScared from improving his position. McScared works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. There's a bit of a scramble here and now McScared is on top in guard.
McScared is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Cabeza looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Cabeza working a defensive guard here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. McScared lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. McScared moves into full mount! Cabeza won't be happy about that! Cabeza is looking to improve his position but McScared isn't that keen on the idea. Cabeza wants to control but McScared is having none of it. McScared get's back to his feet. Cabeza throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McScared sees it coming and avoids it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cabeza gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and McScared counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cabeza's guard now. Scaredy McScared has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Cabeza. McScared works a leg free and moves into half guard. Cabeza wants to get back to full guard. McScared working Cabeza over with strikes. McScared is working for a submission of some sort.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McScared is thwarting Cabeza's attempts to control the position. Cabeza is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. McScared is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Cabeza! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Scaredy McScared dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
McScared shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cabeza's guard. Cabeza is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. McScared not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Cabeza manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cabeza can do anything to dispel that myth. Cabeza wants to sweep here but McScared controlling him for the moment. McScared trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Cabeza tries to strike from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Cabeza throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
McScared wants to control from the top but Cabeza keeps moving. Cabeza is trying to control the position from the bottom.
McScared loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. McScared is standing up over Cabeza. Cabeza looks to escape but McScared dives into side control.
McScared is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cabeza has escaped the position, nice work there. McScared in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cabeza tries to bench press McScared off him but McScared keeps the position. Cabeza manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Cabeza wants to get back to full guard. Cabeza is trying to control but can't.
McScared is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Cabeza has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McScared is working away from the top position though. McScared stops Cabeza from getting back to his feet.
Cabeza is looking to control McScared's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cabeza avoid being mounted? McScared working over Cabeza with some ground and pound. Cabeza looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Cabeza is trying to get back to full guard. McScared is working for a kimura but Cabeza is defending it quite comfortably.

Scaredy McScared overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cabeza tries to bench press McScared off him but McScared keeps the position. McScared in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Cabeza is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
