The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stanton fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fields avoids it really well and circles away.

Fields looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Fields is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Stanton looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fields controls from within his opponent's guard.

It looks like Fields might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Stanton has momentary wrist control but Fields slips an elbow through the middle.

Fields wants to stand but Stanton has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Fields slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Fields closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Fields not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Fields content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fields slips a nice elbow through Stanton's hands, connecting with Stanton's forehead.

Fields is trying to work for a kimura but Stanton is defending well.

Fields looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stanton with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Stanton is rocked!
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Fields in particular looking to stall.
Oh Stanton is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fields scores with a big shot! Stanton's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Stanton! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
