PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lynn Stout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alperen Yilmaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lynn Stout!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alperen Yilmaz!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yilmaz lands a front kick.
Yilmaz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stout.
Stout misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Yilmaz.
Yilmaz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Yilmaz looks to land a body kick but Stout moved away.

Stout closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Yilmaz manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Stout changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Yilmaz tries to avoid it but Stout manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Yilmaz to the ground. Yilmaz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Yilmaz closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Yilmaz wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Yilmaz stuffs the takedown.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Yilmaz enables Stout to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Yilmaz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Yilmaz wriggles free and stands up.

Yilmaz looks to land a body kick but Stout moved away.
Stout shoots in looking for a takedown but Yilmaz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Stout's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lynn Stout. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yilmaz throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Lynn Stout seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Yilmaz shoots in and gets a takedown into Stout's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yilmaz stands and throws Stout's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Yilmaz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stout keeps working.

Yilmaz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Yilmaz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Yilmaz is looking to take a break and control but Stout is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Yilmaz is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Stout sneaks back into half guard.

Yilmaz is trying to work for a kimura but Stout is defending well.
Yilmaz has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Stout is squirming around, avoiding Yilmaz's attempts to control the action.

Yilmaz avoids the attempt from Stout to control.
Yilmaz trying to control but Stout is having none of it.
Stout really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Yilmaz looking to control but Stout is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Yilmaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stout. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Yilmaz takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Stout has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Stout wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Yilmaz, who protects the arm well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stout is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Yilmaz will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Stout is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Stout misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The referee asks Stout politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Stout prefers to stall for the moment though.

Stout creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Stout looks up at the clock and then as Yilmaz takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Stout smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Stout shoots in looking for a takedown. Yilmaz tries to sprawl out of it but Stout keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Yilmaz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Yilmaz tries to keep at a distance but Stout has taken the fight into the clinch.

Stout has picked Yilmaz up - he's going for a ride! Stout dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Stout is taking a breather. Yilmaz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Stout looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Yilmaz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Stout wants to work for an arm triangle but Yilmaz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Stout lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Stout is nestled in close to Yilmaz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Stout's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Stout is in close to Yilmaz's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Stout is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Lynn Stout showed his dominance in that final round.
