Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ricardo Ware! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vasili Shmirchnikov! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ware tries to clinch there but Shmirchnikov circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ware looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Shmirchnikov throws a big counter head kick but Ware avoids it with no problem. Shmirchnikov looking to score a takedown here. Ware is defending well but Shmirchnikov drives through and ends up in Ware's guard. Ware is trying to control the position but Shmirchnikov postures up. Shmirchnikov throwing strikes but missing. Shmirchnikov slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Ware keeping his opponent close. That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Ware is looking for a sweep. Shmirchnikov tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Shmirchnikov working the ground and pound from side control. The ground and pound from Shmirchnikov seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Ware wants to control but Shmirchnikov postures up. Shmirchnikov goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Ware has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Shmirchnikov but great work by Ware.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The strikes coming from Ware are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Shmirchnikov is looking for a sweep. Ware creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Shmirchnikov tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Ware presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Shmirchnikov blocking the ground and pound. Ware prevents Shmirchnikov from getting the reversal. Shmirchnikov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shmirchnikov is working to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ware throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Shmirchnikov bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Shmirchnikov is in close to Ware's body, working some short punches and elbows. Ware keeping full guard, as Shmirchnikov tries to pass. Shmirchnikov trying to control but Ware is working from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Shmirchnikov wants to stand and escape but instead Ware has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Ware looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Shmirchnikov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. You can see the frustration on Ware's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Shmirchnikov is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ware's shoulder. That is not cool. Ware is not content to let Shmirchnikov control the position. Shmirchnikov postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Shmirchnikov working away. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Shmirchnikov has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Shmirchnikov closes the distance and clinches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Ware is trying to force a seperation but Shmirchnikov has the dominant position. Shmirchnikov jumps into guard, dragging Ware to the mat.

Shmirchnikov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Shmirchnikov looking for a guillotine here but Ware defends easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Shmirchnikov controls Ware momentarily but Ware frees himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vasili Shmirchnikov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Ware has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Shmirchnikov has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Shmirchnikov pulls guard successfully.

Ware thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Shmirchnikov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ware not landing any meaningful shots this time. Ware looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shmirchnikov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Shmirchnikov is trying is best to control the position here. Ware takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shmirchnikov is pressing down on Ware's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Shmirchnikov wants to sweep here but Ware controlling him for the moment. Shmirchnikov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Ware throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Ware postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Shmirchnikov feints and as Ware raises his hands in defense, Shmirchnikov changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Shmirchnikov wants to control from the top but Ware keeps moving. Ricardo Ware has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Vasili Shmirchnikov is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Ware throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Vasili Shmirchnikov. I've got Shmirchnikov winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
