Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
28 - 11 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Conteh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
24 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miguel Camacho!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Conteh checks a leg kick.
It looked like Conteh wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
The fighters circling - Camacho throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Conteh tries to close the distance and clinch but Camacho swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Camacho feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Contehs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Conteh misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Camacho.
Camacho connects with a right hand. Conteh shakes it off.
Camacho connects with a leg kick. Conteh looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Conteh checks the leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Conteh waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Camacho.
Camacho counters with a body kick.
Camacho lands with a nice body punch.
Camacho tries to bum rush Conteh with a series of wild strikes but Conteh uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Good leg kick by Camacho there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Camacho misses the shot to the body.
Conteh scores with a punch to the head.
Camacho jabs Conteh to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Conteh slips under a jab from Camacho.
Camacho throws a sloppy head kick and Conteh moves out of range easily.
Conteh was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Camacho bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Conteh's head.
Camacho looks to land a left hand but Conteh moved out of range nicely.
Camacho tests Conteh's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Camacho lands a big head kick that sends Conteh to the canvas! Camacho follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Miguel Camacho!
After winning the bout, Miguel Camacho thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
