PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between TomFuu II (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Under Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, TomFuu II!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Under Dog!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for II, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Dog fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with II, pushing him back against the cage.
Dog lands an uppercut.
II is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
II is looking to break free of the clinch but Dog has double underhooks.
Dog will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning II up against the cage.
II looking to stall.

Dog gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, II regains guard.
Dog wants to stand and escape but instead II has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
II wanted to stand there but Dog had control of the position.
II trying to control but Dog is working from the bottom.
Dog is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dog controlling the position.
Dog can't keep his opponent in guard - II advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dog is in trouble now - II has advanced to mount!
Dog really doesn't want to stay on the ground with II. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dog is looking to get to half guard.
Dog avoids a series of strikes thrown by II.
Dog tries to hold on but II pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dog really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Dog is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Dog looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

II is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Dog is defending well though. II let's go of the attempt for now.
Dog trying to control the action but II just sinks the hooks in.

II has the hooks in. Dog is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Dog looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Dog looks gassed!

II is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Dog knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Dog for a finish.
II not allowing Dog to control his hands.

II is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Dog has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

II throwing wild punches that miss their target.
II has the hooks in. Dog is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
II wants to control but Dog is keeping busy.
II keeps control of the position as Dog tries to break free.

II is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

TomFuu II dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Dog clinches up with II and pushes him back against the cage.

Dog escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dog showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from II.
II shoots in for a double leg but Dog sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nice sprawl there from Dog as II shoots in.

Dog moves into range and clinches up with II.
Dog blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dog has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics II uses from the top position.
Dog is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dog pushes II off and scrambles back to his feet.

Dog has II up against the cage in a clinch.
Dog has II pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. II manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Dog escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Dog gets a takedown into half guard.
II trying to control from the bottom.
Dog is trying to control the action in half guard but II is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Dog is thwarting II's attempts to control the position.
II is staying active underneath Dog, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
II moves into full guard.
Dog stopping the sweep attempt from II.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Dog decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dog frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Dog looking to control but II is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
II is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
II is working to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Under Dog showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



II tries to keep at a distance but Dog has taken the fight into the clinch.

Dog breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dog shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts II as he jumps to the side.
TomFuu II is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Dog rushes II and presses him up against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Dog tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. II smiles and moves away.
Dog throws a head kick but II moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
II tries for a takedown but Dog circles away easily
and Dog counters with a nice kick to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
II throws a head kick but Dog moves out of range.
II has his takedown stuffed

and Dog counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Dog wants to control from the top but II keeps moving.
Dog controls from within his opponent's guard.

Dog thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dog must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dog trying to control the position from guard on top but II is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
II manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Dog regains half guard.
II is looking to advance position but Dog won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dog wants to get back to his feet.
II content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
II is thwarting Dog's attempts to control the position.
Dog is trying to stand.
II prevents Dog from improving his position.
Dog is staying active underneath II, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dog trying to control here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
II throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dog's waist but Dog gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing II off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for TomFuu II. That's going to take a lot out of him.
II stuffs the takedown attempt from Dog. Dog gets slowly back to his feet.
II doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Dog decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in II's guard.
Dog with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

II has his foot on Dog's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dog works his way back into a safe position though.
Dog trying to control the position from guard on top but II is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

And that's the end of the fight!
Under Dog comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dog has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
