Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Connor Alexis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mason Stone! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alexis slips a straight right by Stone. Alexis shoots in but no luck this time. Alexis shoots in for a double leg but Stone sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Stone drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Alexis defends it well. Stone tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Stone gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Alexis. Stone just misses with a punch to the body.
Alexis shoots and misses and Stone counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Connor Alexis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Alexis is breathing heavily. Stone is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Stone moves into full mount! Alexis won't be happy about that! Stone looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Stone looking for a guillotine from mount but Alexis is having none of it. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Stone is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Alexis can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stone working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Alexis looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Stone! Submission of the night perhaps?
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Mason Stone! Mason Stone tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool. The defeated Connor Alexis had this to say: 'Kudo's to my opponent,He was brilliant tonight,But im not gonna stop,Im coming for the title sooner or later.'.
