The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kolari misses with a head kick.
Nykanen throws a head kick that misses.
Nykanen shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kolari escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nykanen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Nykanen is pushing down on Kolari's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kolari is fighting to maintain full guard but Nykanen has managed to sneak the leg through.

Nykanen wants to free his trapped foot but Kolari is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Kolari tries to roll over but Nykanen keeps him under control.
Nykanen drops an elbow to the side of Kolari's head.

Kolari is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Nykanen is trying to control the position but Kolari postures up.
Kolari tries to free his leg and advance position but Nykanen is retaining full guard.

Nykanen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Nykanen had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kolari is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Nykanen Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kolari's back instead.
Nykanen somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Kolari can't escape the position.
Nykanen slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Nykanen has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kolari has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
