Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fredy Benton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lars Kenardly! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kenardly ducks right into an uppercut from Benton. Kenardly scores with a punch to the head. Kenardly throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Benton. Benton lands a jab to Kenardly's midsection. Kenardly is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Benton's half guard. Benton is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Rape Academy (7 elite, 6 2x elite) that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Kenardly tries to stand and escape but Benton is controlling the position. Benton keeping control of the position. Kenardly thows a huge punch but Benton dodges it nicely.
Kenardly trying to control the action but Benton is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Benton is trying to maintain the position but Kenardly is very close to passing his half guard. Kenardly stalling away here and it's allowed Benton to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Kenardly cracks Benton with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Benton darts in looking for a takedown but Kenardly gets double underhooks and turns Benton into the cage. Kenardly throws a nice looking combination but Benton bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. A punch combination from Kenardly misses. Benton appears to be looking for a counter takedown. so Benton counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Benton with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Benton with a nice head shot there. Kenardly wants to sweep but no luck. Benton distracts Kenardly with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Kenardly controls Benton momentarily but Benton frees himself. Benton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kenardly bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Benton's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Benton shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kenardly as he avoids it easily. Kenardly stalks Benton and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Benton's face. Benton staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like Fredy Benton has been cut. Kenardly throws a series of punches but Benton avoids them all with ease. Kenardly misses with a hook. Benton attempts a counter takedown but Kenardly avoids it well and moves away. Kenardly has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Kenardly throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Benton changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Lars Kenardly is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kenardly paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Kenardly looks to land a right hand but Benton moved out of range. Kenardly bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Benton's head backwards. Benton shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kenardly is trying to defend but Benton finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Benton seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Benton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kenardly does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Benton lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Benton missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Kenardly is positioning himself well to prevent Benton advancing to mount. Benton throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Benton prevents Kenardly from improving his position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Benton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kenardly sprawls well initially but Benton persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Kenardly wants to control but Benton is keeping busy.
Kenardly is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Benton's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Benton's back! Benton covering up well under a series of strikes from Kenardly.

Benton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kenardly moves away. Lars Kenardly seems to be getting the better of the standup. Kenardly moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Lars Kenardly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kenardly swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

It looked like Benton wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Kenardly swinging wildly here.
Benton looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kenardly swinging wildly here.
Benton takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Kenardly connects with a right hand. Benton shakes it off. Kenardly stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Oh Benton is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kenardly lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Benton fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fredy Benton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kenardly is pawing at Benton, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Benton's nose. Benton is badly hurt! Kenardly pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Benton tries desperately to hold on but Kenardly is relentless in his assault! As Benton receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Kenardly away and this one is in the books!
