The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saarenpaa slips under a jab from Kato.
A low kick from Kato is predictable there
and Saarenpaa counters with a nice uppercut.
The fighters circling - Kato throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kato with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Kato misses with a straight left.
Saarenpaa is looking to clinch.
Kato lands a jab to the nose.
Saarenpaa walks into a straight right hand from Kato.
Saarenpaa circles away from the clinch attempt
and Saarenpaa counters with a straight right hand.

Kato throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Saarenpaa quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Kenji Kato seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A big left from Kato misses.
Saarenpaa scores with a head kick. Kato tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
A clash of legs there as Saarenpaa blocks the low kick.
Kato connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Saarenpaa's hands.

Saarenpaa is rocked!

Kato fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Saarenpaa, pushing him back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kato lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Kato lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Saarenpaa backwards.
Oh Saarenpaa is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Kato breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Saarenpaa swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kato cracks Saarenpaa with a hook to the temple - Saarenpaa is on wobbly legs here! Kato swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Saarenpaa falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Kato wins by TKO!

A relieved looking Kenji Kato thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
