The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Krzatek throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Maddox tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Krzatek is in Maddox's guard. Maddox has his feet on Krzatek's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Maddox looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Maddox changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Krzatek tries to avoid it but Maddox manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Krzatek to the ground. Krzatek escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Maddox shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Krzatek managing to control the position. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Krzatek is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round. Krzatek is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Maddox is aware though and is defending well. Krzatek has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Maddox should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Krzatek has tightened it up now! Maddox should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Matek Krzatek!
