PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jiu Jitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trent Quo Titan Kirbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kirbs has chosen Steve Miller Band - The Joker as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Jiu Jitsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trent Quo Titan Kirbs!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirbs tries to work over Jitsu's front leg with a kick but Jitsu checks it.
Jitsu tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Kirbs manages to circle out of the way.
Jitsu uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kirbs.
Jitsu attempts a counter takedown but Kirbs avoids it well and moves away.
Jitsu shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kirbs as he jumps to the side.
Kirbs attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Jitsu tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kirbs manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kirbs throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jitsu takes one on the button.
Kirbs cracks a nice hook into Jitsu's ribs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jitsu shoots in and gets a takedown into Kirbs's guard.
Kirbs working a defensive guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kirbs is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jitsu is aware though and is defending well.

Kirbs looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jitsu with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jitsu landing with the ground and pound.
Jitsu advances position into side control!

Jitsu tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jitsu has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jitsu is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kirbs has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kirbs is looking to reverse the position.
Jitsu has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kirbs wants to control but Jitsu postures up.
Kirbs is looking for a sweep.

Jitsu thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Jitsu working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kirbs is looking to reverse the position.

Jitsu tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jitsu has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kirbs is trying to get back to half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jitsu swings around for an armbar but Kirbs sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jitsu's guard.

Jitsu looking for a guillotine here but Kirbs defends easily.

Kirbs drops back looking for a leg! Jitsu is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jitsu manages to kick Kirbs off! Kirbs jumps back into Jitsu's guard.
Kirbs slips nicely into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kirbs is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jitsu has managed to free his arm - good work.
Jitsu missing with punches from the bottom.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Kirbs trying to control the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Jitsu moves out of range of the body kick from Kirbs.
Kirbs is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jitsu.
Kirbs throws a body shot but no joy.
Kirbs connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Jitsu's hands.
Kirbs throws a head kick that misses

and Jitsu counters with a single leg into guard. Kirbs didn't expect that.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kirbs avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Jitsu works over Kirbs with some ground and pound from guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kirbs is on top in guard.
Kirbs preventing the sweep.
Kirbs wants to pass the guard but Jitsu is keeping the position.

Jitsu is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kirbs trying to control but Jitsu is working from the bottom.
Jitsu looking for a sweep. Not yet Jitsu, not yet.

Jitsu has an active guard here but Kirbs has managed to pass into half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jitsu tries to roll over but Kirbs keeps him under control.

Kirbs is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jitsu is just riding it out for now. Kirbs eventually gives up the hold.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Trent Quo Titan Kirbs will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Kirbs circles away from the clinch attempt.
A telegraphed right hand from Kirbs misses the target.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Kirbs.
Kirbs stuffs the takedown.
Kirbs leaves Jitsu with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kirbs only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Kirbs falls off balance throwing a combination

and Jitsu counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jitsu drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Jitsu seems to have locked his on tight now - Kirbs screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Jitsu, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Jiu Jitsu!
After the big win, Jiu Jitsu made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Urban Fighter and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
