The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCoy gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Shields jumps guard and drags McCoy to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Shields can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McCoy controls the pace.

McCoy avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
McCoy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shields's guard.
McCoy wants to take a breather but Shields is having none of it.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, McCoy cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

McCoy has control of Shields's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Shields regains control of the situation pretty easily.

McCoy cracks Shields with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Shields closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Shields lands in his opponent's guard.

LeSean McCoy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McCoy connects with a nice short shot to Shields's temple.
LeSean McCoy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Shields has hold of McCoy's hands but McCoy slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Shields is looking for a sweep. McCoy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
