0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Filipa Gonzalaz! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzalaz shoots in but Brian avoids the takedown attempt easily. Gonzalaz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brian pinned against the cage. Brian gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Gonzalaz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Brian circles away. Karl Brian has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Filipa Gonzalaz. Gonzalaz looks gassed! Gonzalaz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brian but Brian pushes him off and we're back to square one. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Brian stands and throws Gonzalaz's legs to the side, diving into side control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
