Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Yuba Boulwiha! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ken Halo! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown attempt by Boulwiha or perhaps it was just good defense by Halo, which made it look bad. Boulwiha shoots for a takedown but Halo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Halo has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Boulwiha misses with a takedown and Halo counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yuba Boulwiha. That's going to take a lot out of him. Halo drives through and clinches with Boulwiha against the cage.
Boulwiha tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Halo smiles and moves away.
Boulwiha fails miserably with a takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boulwiha shoots in but Halo avoids the takedown attempt easily. Halo is looking for the big counter here. No luck for Boulwiha with that takedown attempt. Boulwiha backing away here, and Halo unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Halo cracks the inside of Boulwiha's front leg. Halo drops Boulwiha with a beautiful combination! Boulwiha stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Halo is looking for the KO!
It looks like Yuba Boulwiha has been cut. A decent looking body kick lands there for Halo. Boulwiha is breathing heavily. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Halo!
This has been an exciting period of action! Boulwiha doesn't succeed with the takedown and Halo counters with a leg kick. Halo lands a right hook to the body.
Nice body kick there by Halo. Boulwiha chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Halo can pounce on him.
Ken Halo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Boulwiha on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. A jab from Halo finds it's way through Boulwiha's defenses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Halo lets loose with a powerful body kick. Boulwiha will feel that in the morning. Boulwiha fails to land the takedown. Boulwiha shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Boulwiha misses with a takedown attempt and Halo counters with a nice right hand that sends Boulwiha toppling to the canvas! Boulwiha scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Halo finish him?! Boulwiha shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Halo sprawls well. Halo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Boulwiha gets slowly back to his feet. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Boulwiha crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Halo - the referee stops the clock and Boulwiha gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Halo. Boulwiha manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Halo scores with a shot to the body.
Halo lands with a thumping leg kick.
Boulwiha misses with a takedown attempt and Halo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Halo punishes Boulwiha's body with a nice straight punch. Halo connects with an inside leg kick. Halo drops Boulwiha with a beautiful combination! Boulwiha stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Halo is looking for the KO! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Boulwiha will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Halo drops Boulwiha with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Boulwiha looks back up at him and smiles so Halo waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Boulwiha is rocked! Halo lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Boulwiha falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ken Halo! Ken Halo retains his heavyweight title! Ken Halo seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website. The defeated Yuba Boulwiha had this to say: 'I smell TRT here...'.
