Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Max Hyde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasili Shmirchnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Max Hyde! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vasili Shmirchnikov! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Konstantin Menshow and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shmirchnikov clinches. Shmirchnikov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. No luck for Shmirchnikov with that takedown attempt. Hyde really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Shmirchnikov darts in and clinches Hyde up against the cage. Hyde is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Shmirchnikov gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Shmirchnikov prevents a takedown attempt there.
Shmirchnikov jumps guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shmirchnikov had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hyde defends it easily. Shmirchnikov looking to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hyde got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shmirchnikov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hyde has managed to get both his arms back between Shmirchnikov's legs - danger averted. Shmirchnikov not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hyde has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Shmirchnikov is proving hard to escape from. Hyde landing with the ground and pound. Shmirchnikov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hyde. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hyde sitting in guard here, content to control. Hyde wanted to stand there but Shmirchnikov had control of the position. Hyde trying to control but Shmirchnikov is working from the bottom. Hyde sitting in guard, not really doing much. Hyde cracks Shmirchnikov with a solid left hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Hyde wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Shmirchnikov's closed guard. He's half up but Shmirchnikov has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Shmirchnikov pivots and extends the arm, Hyde falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Shmirchnikov! Well done that man!
