PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chevie Case (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ned Flanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ned Flanders was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chevie Case!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ned Flanders!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Case darts in looking for a takedown but Flanders gets double underhooks and turns Case into the cage.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Case pushes Flanders away with a front kick.
Case swings widly with a right hand
letting Flanders counter with a right hand.
Case motions for Flanders to come forward. Case throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Flanders looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Case throws a push kick but Flanders slaps the foot to one side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Case misses with a left hand
and Flanders cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Case misses with a leg kick
and Flanders counters with a lovely straight right hand!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Case shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Case drops back looking for a leg! Flanders is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Flanders manages to kick Case off! Case jumps back into Flanders's guard.
Case prevents Flanders from getting back to his feet.
Case content to stall in guard here.
Case trying to control but Flanders is working from the bottom.
Case looking to pass the guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Flanders can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Case controlling from the top position.
Flanders is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Case dives into side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Case wants to lay and pray for a moment but Flanders keeps working.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Case tries for a takedown but Flanders circles away easily
letting Flanders counter with a right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Case's corner calls for a 1-2. Case obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Case tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Flanders swivels and escapes.
It seemed like Flanders was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chevie Case. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Case has his takedown stuffed
enabling Flanders to counter with a crisp jab.
Case fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Case turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Case with a poor takedown
letting Flanders counter with a right hand.
Case feints and then cracks Flanders's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Flanders down.
Flanders has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Case.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Flanders slaps away a takedown attempt from Case, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Flanders throws out a counter right but Case avoids it with no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ned Flanders will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Case shoots in for a takedown but Flanders shows good takedown defense.
Flanders swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Flanders's coach down at THE GYM (20 Elite coaches on the Island !!!) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Flanders's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Case throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Flanders counters with a nice uppercut.
Case tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Flanders was well out of range. Poor timing from Case.
Case misses with a hook to the body
and Flanders counters with a stiff right hand.
Case throws an off balance right hand
and Flanders counters with a lovely straight right hand!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Case with a lazy takedown attempt
and Flanders counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Case throws a leg kick
and Flanders connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Flanders slaps away a takedown attempt from Case, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Flanders throws out a counter right but Case avoids it with no problem.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chevie Case. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Case pushes Flanders up against the cage in a clinch.
Flanders lands a nice uppercut.
Flanders is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Case is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Flanders to keep the fight standing.
Flanders struggles to land a body shot inside as Case controls his hands.
Case trying to control the position but instead, Flanders has worked for underhooks and has pushed Case into the cage.
Case blocks a body shot from Flanders.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Flanders lands with a short shot to the head.
Case's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Case ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Case no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Case has a closed guard, preventing Flanders from standing up.
Case is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Case seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Flanders is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Chevie Case!
