PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hesa MC (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Tonon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

MC rushes Tonon and presses him up against the cage.
MC throws a knee to the head but misses.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Tonon has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Tonon is trying to drag MC to the mat but MC just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
MC goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Tonon is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables MC to keep the fight standing.
Tonon wants a takedown.
Hesa MC has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gary Tonon.
MC landing knees to the head.

MC misses with an elbow over the top.
Tonon is trying to pull guard but MC turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Tonon jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as MC walks away with a smile on his face. Tonon gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
MC wants to clinch up but Tonon keeps it at a distance.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. MC obliges.

MC lands a nice knee to the body.
Still in the clinch, MC scores with a nice short uppercut.
Tonon on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
MC lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Tonon blocking some punches.
MC connects with a knee to the head.
MC misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Tonon.
MC misses with a punch on the inside.
A nice glancing elbow lands by MC.

Tonon has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics MC uses from the top position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Tonon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

MC is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Tonon scores with a couple of nice shots.
MC definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Tonon thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Tonon is trying to control. MC wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Tonon is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for MC!

MC knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tonon on the ground.
Tonon lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tonon throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! MC has his hands clasped together but Tonon breaks the hold and MC is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Tonon!
