Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kurtis Couturier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karim Bashorov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Couturier comes to the cage accompanied by Forever Angel. Bashorov comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hangar 18 kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karim Bashorov!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bashorov scores with a jab to the body.
Bashorov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Couturier circles away quickly and effectively.
Couturier went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
A left lands for Bashorov.
Good exchange - Bashorov coming out on top.
Bashorov bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Bashorov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Couturier moves away.
Couturier drops down looking for a counter takedown but Bashorov sprawls and moves away.
Bashorov feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Couturiers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Bashorov is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Bashorov misses with a hook.
Bashorov digs a good body shot into Couturier's ribs.
Bashorov lands with an overhand left.
Bashorov moves into range and connects with a jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Couturier counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Couturier's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Couturier perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Bashorov gets full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Couturier might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bashorov wants to sweep but no luck.

Couturier looking to improve position, pressing down on Bashorov's thigh with his hand. Bashorov seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Couturier paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Couturier's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Bashorov picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
