Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Justin Romero! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Isaac Thomas! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Thomas. No joy for Romero on that attempt. Thomas lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Thomas drives through and clinches with Romero against the cage.
Thomas digs a right hand underneath Romero's ribcage. Romero let out a lung full of air as it connected. Romero really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Romero is trying to stall.
Thomas is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Thomas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Thomas has Romero up against the cage in a clinch.
Thomas is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Romero is defending well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Romero fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Thomas has Romero pressed against the cage, preventing Romero from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Romero is looking to break free of the clinch but Thomas has double underhooks. Romero has Thomas pushed against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Romero wants to get back to striking at distance but Thomas won't allow it.
Romero escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Thomas throws a head kick that Romero semi-blocks.
Romero is rocked!
It looks like Justin Romero has been cut. Thomas fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Oh Romero is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Justin Romero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Isaac Thomas. Thomas feints a jab and as Romero dips his head, Thomas unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Romero right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Romero falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Thomas smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Isaac Thomas!
