Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Arapeta Ma Aka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sprint Asap!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Asap looks to land a combination but Ma Aka avoids it well.
Ma Aka half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Asap bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ma Aka's head.
Ma Aka moves away from the strike by Asap.
Ma Aka definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Ma Aka shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Ma Aka drops his hands momentarily and Asap takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
The crowd cheers as Asap lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ma Aka doesn't seem phased though.
Ma Aka closes the distance and clinches up with Asap, looking for a takedown. Ma Aka pushes Asap against the cage but Asap circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Asap wants to counter the offense by Ma Aka and move into the clinch position.
Asap rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ma Aka moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ma Aka seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Asap tries to clinch up but Ma Aka circles away and keeps his distance.
Ma Aka attempts a counter takedown but Asap avoids it well and moves away.
Ma Aka lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Asap at a distance.
Sprint Asap seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Asap uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ma Aka.
Asap clinches with his opponent.
Asap throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Ma Aka blocks it with crossed arms.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ma Aka has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Asap after a bit of a struggle.
Asap misses with a short punch on the inside.
Ma Aka jumps guard but Asap turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arapeta Ma Aka. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ma Aka fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Asap swings wildly with an uppercut but Ma Aka uses good head movement to avoid it.
A nice right hand lands inside from Asap.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Asap.
Asap gets through Ma Aka's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Ma Aka tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Asap just stands there and leans against the cage.
Asap lands a nice uppercut.
Ma Aka is rocked!
Ma Aka fails to pull guard.
Asap stalling against the cage.
Asap lands with a right to the head.
Oh Ma Aka is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Asap lands a big knee to the head and Ma Aka goes down! Asap pounces and finishes the fight with strikes! He jumps to his feet and celebrates with the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sprint Asap!
Arapeta Ma Aka spoke after the fight, saying 'I will come back stronger!'.
