Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tim Wright! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wright takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Wright misses with a takedown attempt - Lee sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Lee with a nice cross. Wright gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Lee. Lee misses with a wild body shot. Wright tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Wright fails with a takedown attempt. It looked like Lee wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lee misses with a straight left. A little jabbing left from Wright on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Lee missing with a left hand there. Wright was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Lee throws a hook but Wright blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wright misses with a series of wild punches.
Wright takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Lee moves into the clinch. Lee misses with a body punch.
Lee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lee fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wright manages to avoid it. Lee scores with a jab to the head.
Lee gets a clinch. Lee misses with some punches.
Lee lands with a light punch inside.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Lee creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wright takes a shot to the head. Lee lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Wright or not. Lee lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Lee throws a head punch that misses. Wright tries to pull guard but Lee holds him up against the cage and eventually Wright drops back down to his feet.
Kevin Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Wright. Wright jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lee walks away with a smile on his face. Wright gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Lee paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Wright closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Wright throwing shots but Lee is blocking nicely. Wright trying to pass the guard but Lee defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee pushes Wright off and gets back to his feet. Lee dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Jab, jab by Lee - just one landing. Lee is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Lee, as that shot connected.

Lee loads up on a big right hand but Wright slips the punch. A slow jab from Lee misses its intended target. Kevin Lee is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Lee fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. It looks like Lee has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Wright throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Lee counters with a nice uppercut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lee lands a nice looking body shot.

Nice jab there from Lee. Lee with a jab. Lee lands a big right hand that sends Wright crashing to the mat! Lee stays standing though and waves Wright back to his feet!
Wright is rocked! Lee throws a shot from downtown. Wright moves away and avoids it. Wright changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Wright is still on wobbly legs! Can Lee finish him? Wright steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lee. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kevin Lee dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Wright tries for a takedown but Lee circles away easily and Lee connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Wright seems to have recovered his senses. Lee throws a body shot but no joy. Lee has closed the distance and engaged Wright in a clinch.
Lee throws a punch but it's blocked by Wright. Lee lands with a light punch inside. Wright is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Lee gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Still in the clinch, Lee scores with a nice short uppercut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lee lands a nice uppercut. That's one minute gone in the round. Lee takes a swing at Wright's ribcage but misses. And Wright tries to counter it with a takedown but Lee pushes his down on his head and steps out. Lee is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wright can do to turn this around? A slow jab from Lee misses its intended target. Wright changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Lee pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Wright throws a hook but Lee blocks it. Wright tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lee swats him away and circles back towards the center. An attempted straight right counter from Lee misses the target. A combination from Lee does no damage. Lee throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wright. Wright tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Lee stuffs the takedown attempt from Wright. Wright gets slowly back to his feet. Wright takes a shot right to the bread basket.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wright displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lee throws out the jab. Kevin Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lee moves into the clinch successfully.

Lee swings wildly with an uppercut but Wright uses good head movement to avoid it. Wright tries to pull guard but Lee holds him up against the cage and eventually Wright drops back down to his feet.
Lee throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Wrights head. Lee lands a left hand.
Lee manages to break the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lee instigates a clinch. Lee misses with a hook from the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A head punch blocked on the inside by Wright. Lee throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Wrights head. Lee lands with a short head shot on the inside. Lee lands with a short head shot on the inside. Wright jumps guard but Lee turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Lee lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Lee breaks from the clinch.
Lee scores with a hook to the body. Wright takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Wright looks to throw the jab but Lee is out of range. Wright lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Lee at a distance.
Lee connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Wright momentarily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lee drops Wright with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Wright looks back up at him and smiles so Lee waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Lee moves into range and clinches up with Wright. Wright takes a shot to the head. Wright prevents a body shot from Lee. Wright is working for takedown but Lee is calmly controlling the position for now. Wright jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lee walks away with a smile on his face. Wright gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Lee feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Wright sprawling to the canvas! Wright rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Lee finish him?!
Lee lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Wright up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Lee from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Wright's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kevin Lee! During a confident post fight interview, Kevin Lee thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
