The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayhem has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mayhem manages to break the clinch.
Jack Mayhem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mayhem shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dean is trying to defend but Mayhem finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Mayhem throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Dean to regain full guard.

Mayhem seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dean does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Dean had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mayhem defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dean regains full guard. Nicely done.

Dean bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mayhem's guard.
Dean decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mayhem, up you get!

Mayhem drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Dean pulls Mayhem in close to his closed guard and prevents Mayhem from doing any damage or advancing position.

Dean has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mayhem off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Mayhem misses with a few strikes there.
Mayhem takes the fight into the clinch.
Mayhem turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mayhem manages to end up in side control.
Dean throws Mayhem to one side and escapes!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mayhem throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dean was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Monty Dean will probably get the nod.

Mayhem feints and as Dean raises his hands in defense, Mayhem changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Dean looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Mayhem got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dean has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mayhem has managed to get both his arms back between Dean's legs - danger averted.
Mayhem is looking to pass into half guard but Dean pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Dean is in guard.
Dean drops back looking for a leg! Mayhem is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mayhem manages to kick Dean off! Dean jumps back into Mayhem's guard.

Monty Dean overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Dean is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Dean misses the shot to the body.
Mayhem has managed to clinch.
Dean has Mayhem pressed against the cage, preventing Mayhem from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Mayhem breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dean gets caught flat footed, as Mayhem shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Dean uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Mayhem is breathing heavily.
Mayhem lands a lovely overhand right.

Mayhem closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dean quickly recovers to half guard.
