PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Te Huna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John McClane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Te Huna comes to the cage accompanied by Chevelle-Jars. McClane is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Jesus Built My Hotrod. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Te Huna!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 24 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, John McClane!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McClane tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Te Huna was well out of range. Poor timing from McClane.
Te Huna takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
McClane ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Te Huna moves away.
Te Huna throws a hook to the side of McClane's head but McClane sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
McClane unleashes a big counter combination but Te Huna bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Te Huna shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McClane pinned against the cage. McClane gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Te Huna tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
McClane attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
McClane listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McClane throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
An attempted straight right counter from Te Huna misses the target.
Te Huna throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McClane scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
McClane feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Te Hunas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

McClane throws a nice looking combination but Te Huna bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Te Huna cracks a nice hook into McClane's ribs.
McClane misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Te Huna connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
McClane tries to land a front kick but Te Huna steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Te Huna needs to keep his hands up - McClane had a free shot at his head there.

McClane scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Te Huna is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Te Huna throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. McClane was covering up waiting for the punch and Te Huna finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Te Huna wants to control from the top but McClane keeps moving.
McClane really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Te Huna. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Te Huna accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Te Huna postures up in McClane's guard and throws a big left but McClane blocks it.
Te Huna loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Te Huna has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Te Huna trying to control but McClane is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Te Huna jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
McClane lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Te Huna shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches McClane napping and manages to drive through into side control!
McClane is trying to control Te Huna's posture but Te Huna avoids it.
Te Huna sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but McClane is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Te Huna lands a nice forearm strike.
McClane tries to buck Te Huna off but Te Huna is having none of it.

Te Huna is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, McClane has escaped the position, nice work there.
Te Huna misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Te Huna lands a few punches from side control.
Te Huna throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Te Huna wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McClane, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Te Huna misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McClane can do anything to dispel that myth.
McClane is looking for a sweep.

Te Huna is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but McClane is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Te Huna throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and McClane works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but John McClane will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Te Huna looks to land a right hand but McClane moved out of range.
Te Huna avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
McClane throws a nice outside leg kick.
Te Huna tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McClane defends well and Te Huna ends up having to push McClane into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Decent striking displayed by McClane there.
McClane lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like James Te Huna has been cut.
McClane lands a nice leg kick that just misses Te Huna's sensitive parts.
McClane has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
McClane goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
John McClane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McClane scores with a body shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Te Huna tests McClane's chin there with a solid looking shot.
McClane connects with a solid leg kick.
McClane moves out of range as Te Huna strikes.
Te Huna avoids a punch combination nicely.
A little feinted left hand from Te Huna on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
McClane looks to throw the jab but Te Huna is out of range.

A left lands for McClane.
Te Huna moves out of range of the strikes.
Te Huna takes one on the chin but seems OK.
John McClane seems to be getting the better of the standup.
McClane avoids a punch combination nicely.
John McClane is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McClane connects with a body shot.
Te Huna swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Te Huna takes one to the chin there.
McClane throws out a powerful jab.
McClane misses with an uppercut.
McClane cracks Te Huna with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
McClane looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Te Huna is looking to counter punch.
Te Huna goes for a double leg but McClane avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as McClane continues to drive forward.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jab, jab by McClane - just one landing.

Te Huna on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Oh Te Huna is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Te Huna takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Te Huna seems to have got his legs back now.
McClane feints and then cracks Te Huna's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Te Huna down.
McClane throws a good cross that connects.
McClane pounces like a tiger and cracks Te Huna with a vicious hook! Te Huna is down but not out! McClane follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). John McClane!
John McClane took some time post fight to say the following; 'Ding a ding a dang a dong dong ding dong! '.
