The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgowan tries to clinch up but Pettis circles away and keeps his distance.
Pettis throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mcgowan sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Pettis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mcgowan defends it nicely.
Good work by Mcgowan as he checks the leg kick.
Pettis lands the left hand.
Pettis misses with a shot to the body
and Mcgowan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pettis keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Pettis misses the shot to the body.
Sloppy strikes from Pettis. Those never looked like landing.
It looked like Mcgowan wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Mcgowan moves away from the strike by Pettis.

Pettis throws a hook to the side of Mcgowan's head but Mcgowan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
As Pettis looks to move away, Mcgowan throws a big counter combo bu Pettis just gets out of the way.
Mcgowan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Pettis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pettis throws a hook to the side of Mcgowan's head but Mcgowan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Mcgowan is looking for a counter combo.
Pettis throws a front kick aimed at Mcgowan's knee but Mcgowan avoids it well.
Pettis misses with a shot to the body
and Mcgowan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Mcgowan clinches.
Mcgowan tries to pull guard but Pettis forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Pettis connects with a nasty looking knee right to Mcgowan's face.
Pettis misses with a knee strike.
Mcgowan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mcgowan has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Pettis after a bit of a struggle.
Mcgowan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pettis walks away with a smile on his face. Mcgowan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Boyd Mcgowan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pettis swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Mcgowan ducks under a wild hook from Pettis.
As Pettis looks to move away, Mcgowan throws a big counter combo bu Pettis just gets out of the way.
Pettis throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mcgowan swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Pettis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pettis misses with a right hand
and Mcgowan counters with a stiff right hand.
Mcgowan is looking to clinch.
Mcgowan walks into a left hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mcgowan steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pettis.
Pettis rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling Mcgowan to counter with a crisp jab.
Mcgowan bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
An attempted straight right counter from Mcgowan misses the target.
Pettis jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Pettis lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Pettis thows a left - swing and a miss!
A little feinted left hand from Mcgowan on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Good standup being displayed there by Pettis as he connects with a hook.
Pettis misses with a body kick.
Mcgowan swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Pettis throws an overhand right that lands on Mcgowan's shoulder, as Mcgowan tries to avoid the shot.

Mcgowan closes the distance and clinches.
Mcgowan throws a punch but it's blocked by Pettis.
Pettis throws an elbow that misses.
Mcgowan dodges an elbow strike from Pettis.
Pettis has a couple of punches blocked by Mcgowan.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pettis misses with a punch on the inside.

Pettis works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mcgowan throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Pettis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mcgowan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mcgowan working for a triangle but Pettis defends it easily.

Mcgowan looking for a guillotine here but Pettis defends easily.
Pettis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eulogy Pettis dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Mcgowan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Pettis keeps the fight on the outside.
Eulogy Pettis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pettis throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mcgowan counters with a stiff right hand.


Pettis is rocked!
Eulogy Pettis seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Pettis misses with a double jab
and Mcgowan counters with a left and a right... and another left... and another!! That last one turned off the lights! Pettis has no idea who he is and is as he gazes up at the spotlights. Brutal knockout!
