Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nick Zal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shino Ohio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Zal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shino Ohio!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Franklyn Lucas and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left lands for Ohio.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ohio looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Zal misses with a right hand
and Ohio counters with a straight right hand.
Zal throws a body shot but no joy.
Ohio is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Ohio moves out of range of the strikes.

Ohio gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Zal is looking to take this one to the mat.
Ohio is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Zal drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ohio pulls his leg out and moves away.

Ohio is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Ohio lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Zal stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ohio.

and Ohio counters with a three punch combo that has Zal backing up. Zal nods at Ohio to acknowledge the strikes.
Shino Ohio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ohio uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Zal.

Ohio is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ohio stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

and Ohio counters with a left and a right that stings Zal.

letting Ohio counter with a right hand.
Zal dives in and grabs Ohio's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ohio pushes down on Zal's head and hops out.

and Ohio counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Zal misses with a body punch
and Ohio counters with a three punch combo that has Zal backing up. Zal nods at Ohio to acknowledge the strikes.
Zal looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ohio is fending him off so far but Zal persists. Nope, Ohio circles away and we're back to standing.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Zal's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Zal looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Ohio throws a low kick but it's checked well by Zal.

Zal is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Ohio can't fight it off and eventually Zal manages to take the fight to the floor. Ohio looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Shino Ohio has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ohio is standing up over Zal. Zal looks to escape but Ohio dives into side control.

Shino Ohio comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ohio has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
