The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Cortes misses.
Nix looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Cortes closes the distance and clinches.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Nix breaks from the clinch.
Cortes throws a head kick that misses.
Jab by Nix.
Nix jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nix lands a glancing blow to the side of Cortes's head.
Nix is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Nix attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Nix missing with a left hand there. Cortes was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Nix cracks Cortes with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
A jab lands there for Nix.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cortes thinks about countering with a body kick.
Cortes throws a body kick that misses.

Cortes takes one to the side of the head.
Cortes is rocked!
Cortes is aggressively charging in as Nix backs up avoiding any damage. Nix tosses out a jab and Cortes runs right into it face first! Cortes is out cold! Nix dropped down on all fours and is barking in Cortes's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joey Nix!
