PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ze Minotauro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiu Jitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Minotauro comes to the cage accompanied by Buckethead - jump man. The crowd seem to be enjoying Jitsu's choice of entrance music: Nikkfurie- The a la Menthe. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 38 - 31 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ze Minotauro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jiu Jitsu!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jitsu misses with a takedown attempt
and Jitsu takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Jitsu feints a jab promting Minotauro to slip. Jitsu then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Minotauro slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Jiu Jitsu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jitsu throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Minotauro's waist but Minotauro gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jitsu off to one side.
Jitsu closes the distance and clinches up with Minotauro, looking for a takedown. Jitsu pushes Minotauro against the cage but Minotauro circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ze Minotauro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jiu Jitsu.

Jitsu is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Minotauro escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jitsu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Minotauro tries to avoid it but Jitsu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Minotauro to the ground. Minotauro escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Jitsu drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Minotauro can't keep his opponent in guard - Jitsu advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Jitsu seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Minotauro does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Minotauro has his hands on Jitsu's head, controlling the position.

Minotauro working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jitsu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jitsu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
My spies in Animal House inform me that Jitsu has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Jitsu is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Minotauro is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Minotauro has escaped and now he's on top!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jitsu shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Minotauro pinned against the cage. Minotauro gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Minotauro counters with a crisp one two that drops Jitsu! Minotauro thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Jitsu to his feet! Jitsu is in big trouble!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jitsu ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jitsu no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Minotauro's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Minotauro breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Jitsu takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Jitsu will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jitsu shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Minotauro pinned against the cage. Minotauro gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jitsu dives in and grabs Minotauro's left leg, looking for a takedown. Minotauro pushes down on Jitsu's head and hops out.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That's time! Minotauro's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Jitsu drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Minotauro manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jitsu has Minotauro in his guard.

Minotauro stands up over Jitsu, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Minotauro got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jitsu has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Minotauro has managed to get both his arms back between Jitsu's legs - danger averted.
Minotauro is in close to Jitsu's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Minotauro might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Minotauro wants to control from the top but Jitsu keeps moving.

Jitsu wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Minotauro is now in half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Minotauro connects with a nice short shot to Jitsu's temple.

Minotauro throws a strike but Jitsu avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Minotauro wants to control from the top but Jitsu keeps moving.
Minotauro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jitsu swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A looping hook to the body misses from Minotauro. Jitsu does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ze Minotauro is winning the standup battle so far.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jitsu.
Jitsu shoots for a takedown but Minotauro saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Minotauro drops Jitsu with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Jitsu looks back up at him and smiles so Minotauro waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Jitsu is still on wobbly legs! Can Minotauro finish him?
A head kick by Minotauro - that's a beauty! Jitsu is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Minotauro can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ze Minotauro!
After winning the bout, Ze Minotauro thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
