Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mick Clarke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donnie McLeftout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McLeftout works over Clarke's head and body with a nice combination. Clarke is looking to take this fight into the clinch. McLeftout scores a takedown into full mount! McLeftout landing strikes from the mount and Clarke is in trouble! McLeftout controlling his opponent. McLeftout is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Clarke is trying desperately to improve position. McLeftout can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Clarke is looking to escape. McLeftout is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Clarke has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Clarke tries to lock up and control but McLeftout gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Clarke tries to reverse the position but McLeftout maintains control. McLeftout sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. McLeftout prevents Clarke from getting the reversal. McLeftout gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Clarke is looking to clinch. McLeftout digs a good hook to Clarke's body.

McLeftout closes the distance and clinches up with Clarke, looking for a takedown. McLeftout pushes Clarke against the cage but Clarke circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. McLeftout fails to land the takedown. McLeftout tries to close the distance and clinch but Clarke swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Clarke fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McLeftout sprawls well initially but Clarke persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Clarke doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Clarke manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Clarke has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Clarke keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of McLeftout's head. Clarke throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McLeftout works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McLeftout keeping full guard, as Clarke tries to pass. McLeftout throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Clarke knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McLeftout on the ground. McLeftout lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Clarke! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McLeftout tries for a takedown but Clarke circles away easily and Clarke counters with a nice double leg into guard. McLeftout looking for a guillotine here but Clarke defends easily.
McLeftout is looking to stand up but Clarke isn't so interested in that idea. McLeftout keeping full guard, as Clarke tries to pass. McLeftout striking off his back but it's not causing Clarke any problems. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McLeftout has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Clarke can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Clarke wants to control from the top but McLeftout keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Clarke trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Clarke postures up in McLeftout's guard and throws a big left but McLeftout blocks it. McLeftout working a defensive guard here.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. McLeftout fails with the takedown. Clarke shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McLeftout's guard. Clarke pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McLeftout is keeping the position for now. McLeftout lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Clarke!

Clarke manages to reverse the position and now he's in McLeftout's guard. Nice work there by Clarke.

McLeftout scores a takedown into full mount! Clarke is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Clarke is trying to reverse the position but instead McLeftout has taken his back - oops! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Clarke is really stuck here.
