Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alexis Carpenter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matti Atti! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carpenter misses with a head kick.
Atti appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Atti drives through and clinches with Carpenter against the cage.
Carpenter tries to pull guard but Atti won't allow it.
Carpenter is looking to take this one to the mat. Atti drags the fight down to the ground.
Carpenter throws a big right hand that misses. Carpenter stands up and waves to Atti to follow him. Atti moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Atti drives through and clinches with Carpenter against the cage.
Atti doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Carpenter fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alexis Carpenter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. A nice glancing elbow lands by Atti.
It looks like Alexis Carpenter has been cut. Atti tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Carpenter avoids it. Atti content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Atti turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Carpenter is looking for a sweep. Carpenter struggling a bit here. Carpenter tries to buck Atti off but Atti is having none of it. Atti decides to take the fight back to the feet. Atti rushes Carpenter and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Atti gets underhooks to prevent Carpenter's takedown attempt.
Carpenter is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Atti tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Carpenter's elbow. Carpenter fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Atti misses with a hook to the ribs.
Atti lands a nice elbow. Atti is stalling here.
Carpenter takes an elbow to the temple. Carpenter on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action! Atti misses with a body punch.
Atti lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Carpenter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Atti lands an elbow that stopped Carpenter in his tracks for a moment. Atti slowing the pace effectively. Atti lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Carpenter is rocked! Nice body punch from Atti. Oh Carpenter is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Atti lands an elbow inside that Carpenter shrugs off. The referee calls for Atti to work.
Atti creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Carpenter's defenses.
Alexis Carpenter's cut is getting worse. A right hook to the body lands for Atti.
Atti landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Carpenter is pressed against the cage. Atti pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Carpenter! Two more big strikes from Atti and Carpenter crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Matti Atti!
