Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Arthur Schopenhauer! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jakob Filby! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schopenhauer fails with the takedown and Filby makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Schopenhauer really felt that one! Filby tries a head kick but it misses.
Schopenhauer drops down looking for a counter takedown but Filby sprawls and moves away. Jakob Filby seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Filby throws a nice outside leg kick. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Schopenhauer checks a leg kick. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Filby, right into the meat.
Filby scoring well with a low kick there.
No luck for Schopenhauer with that takedown attempt. Filby tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Filby tries to clinch there but Schopenhauer circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Filby is looking to clinch but Schopenhauer is avoiding it.
Schopenhauer half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Filby fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Schopenhauer, pushing him back against the cage. Filby throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Schopenhauer blocks it with crossed arms. Filby gets underhooks to prevent Schopenhauer's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arthur Schopenhauer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Schopenhauer is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Filby to keep the fight standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Filby unloads a knee to the mid-section. Schopenhauer lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Schopenhauer is breathing heavily. Schopenhauer decides to pull guard. Schopenhauer looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Filby is looking to stand up but Schopenhauer won't let him. Schopenhauer looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Filby is defending well. Schopenhauer quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Filby has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Schopenhauer celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
