1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Akira Hendrix! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hendrix lands a slapping body shot.
Hendrix cracks a nice hook into Jesus's ribs. Jesus fails with the takedown and Hendrix counters with a straight right hand. Jesus doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hendrix connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Jesus takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jesus fails with the takedown and Hendrix counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andre Jesus. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hendrix scores with a decent looking hook.

Hendrix misses with a straight left. Hendrix is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Jesus had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Hendrix stuns Jesus with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Jesus gets a double leg takedown into Hendrix's guard. Hendrix tries to land a sweep but no joy.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Jesus jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Jesus won't allow Hendrix to sweep him here. Hendrix scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Hendrix lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Jesus at a distance.
Jesus uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hendrix. Jesus tries to counter with a takedown but Hendrix is quick to defend against it. Hendrix throws a lazy right hand but Jesus sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Jesus closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hendrix circles away. Hendrix throws a hook but Jesus avoids it easily. Jesus swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Hendrix misses with a straight right. Hendrix keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesus walks into a straight right hand from Hendrix. Akira Hendrix is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jesus shoots in for a takedown but Hendrix shows good takedown defense. Akira Hendrix showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Jesus takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

He's got his arms around Hendrix's waist but Hendrix gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jesus off to one side. Hendrix appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Hendrix waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jesus.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hendrix throws a hook to the side of Jesus's head but Jesus sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Hendrix lands a body shot.
The fighters circling - Hendrix throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Jesus half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Jesus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hendrix as he avoids it easily. Hendrix throws a shot from downtown. Jesus moves away and avoids it. Jesus with a lazy takedown attempt and Hendrix counters with a right hand to the body. Hendrix throws a looping overhand right but Jesus ducks down to avoid it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hendrix jabbing away but nothing is landing. It appears Jesus was looking to counter with a kick there. Jesus looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Hendrix waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jesus. Hendrix connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Hendrix lands with a right hand. Hendrix digs a good body shot into Jesus's ribs. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jesus will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. A little jabbing left from Hendrix on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Andre Jesus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jesus throws a sloppy head kick and Hendrix connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
