Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Khalifa Khalifa!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Byczynski moves into the clinch.

Khalifa drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Byczynski tries a knee to the head but Khalifa blocks it.
Byczynski tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Khalifa's elbow.
Byczynski has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Byczynski works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Khalifa is trying to maintain a safe position but Byczynski gets an underhook and turns Khalifa into the ropes.
Khalifa tries to score a body lock takedown but Byczynski shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Khalifa is trying to trip Byczynski. He has hold of a leg but Byczynski is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Khalifa persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Byczynski has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Khalifa off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Khalifa has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Byczynski will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Khalifa darts in looking for a takedown but Byczynski gets double underhooks and turns Khalifa into the ropes.
Jari Byczynski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Khalifa Khalifa.
Khalifa fails to land the takedown.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Byczynski tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Khalifa was well out of range. Poor timing from Byczynski.

Byczynski is looking to clinch but Khalifa is avoiding it.
Jari Byczynski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khalifa dives in and grabs Byczynski's left leg, looking for a takedown. Byczynski pushes down on Khalifa's head and hops out.
Khalifa avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Khalifa looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Khalifa closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Byczynski quickly recovers to half guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Khalifa prevents Byczynski from standing back up.

Khalifa wants to take a breather but Byczynski is having none of it.
Khalifa uses his free foot to push down on Byczynski's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Byczynski.
Byczynski is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Byczynski wants to hold on but Khalifa pushes him away.

Poor strikes thrown by Khalifa there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Khalifa postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Byczynski looks a forlorn figure.
Byczynski avoids a series of strikes thrown by Khalifa.

BOOM! Khalifa connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Khalifa fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


Byczynski is rocked!
Khalifa content just to control the position here.
Oh Byczynski is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Khalifa avoids the attempt from Byczynski to control.
Byczynski seems to have got his legs back now.
Byczynski is trying to escape the mount.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Khalifa raining down hammerfists from mount.
Khalifa cracks Byczynski with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Our winner, Khalifa Khalifa, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
