The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomu throws a shot to the body.

Gomu has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Sanchez wants the takedown. Gomu is fighting it off but Sanchez persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gomu's guard against the cage.

That was a close round but I would say that Gomu Gomu will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sanchez is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gomu defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sanchez.

Sanchez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gomu gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sanchez holds on and takes a little breather.
Gomu throws an elbow that misses. Sanchez uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gomu's guard. Nice move by Sanchez!
Gomu wants to hit a switch here but Sanchez passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Gomu there!
Gomu holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Sanchez tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sanchez has the hooks in. Gomu is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Nice uppercut lands for Gomu. That snapped Sanchez's head back.

Gomu cracks Sanchez with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Santiago Sanchez seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Gomu throws a punch but it's blocked by Sanchez.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Gomu.

Gomu wants to break free but Sanchez has control.
Sanchez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gomu pulls his leg out and moves away.
Gomu lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Gomu loads up on a big right hand but Sanchez slips the punch.
Gomu bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Sanchez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gomu swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Gomu throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Sanchez on the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gomu throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Sanchez counters with a nice kick to the body.
Gomu Gomu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gomu connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sanchez momentarily.
Sanchez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gomu is fending him off so far but Sanchez persists. Nope, Gomu circles away and we're back to standing.
Sanchez takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
