Hunt comes to the cage accompanied by Comfortably Numb. Hunt has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Merik Hunt could well score a knockout today. 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Whitehope! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A left and a right from Whitehope both land. Nice combination. Whitehope is looking to clinch. Mark Whitehope seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Whitehope fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hunt sprawls well initially but Whitehope persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Hunt is breathing heavily. Whitehope is nestled in close to Hunt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Whitehope not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Hunt is rocked! Hunt has hold of Whitehope's hands but Whitehope slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Oh Hunt is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Whitehope scores with a big shot! Hunt's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Hunt! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Whitehope! After the fight, Mark Whitehope was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
