Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Terrence Beasley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Faust Nava!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beasley throws a body shot but no joy.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Nava! But no joy.
Beasley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A punch combination from Beasley misses.
Nava gets a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Beasley's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Nava lands with a right to the head.
Nava gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Nava wants to get up but he can't break Beasley's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Nava gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nava gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Come on Beasley - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Nava misses with a knee to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Nava pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nava closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Nava decides to stand back up.
Nava avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nava shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Beasley is trying to defend but Nava finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Nava wants to stand up but Beasley is controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nava stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Terrence Beasley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Beasley throws a combination that misses
and Nava connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Donk. Nava catches Beasley right on the button with a cross.
Nava drives through with a takedown into guard.
Beasley is rocked!
Beasley tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nava gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Nava clinches.
Nava breaks from the clinch.
Beasley swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Nava counters with a left right combination that sends Beasley crashing to the mat - Nava wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Beasley out for a TKO! Devastating finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Faust Nava!
