Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stewart Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cortez comes to the cage accompanied by Wake Me Up. Hunter has chosen Hair of the Dog/ Nazareth as his entrance music. Rafael Cortez could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Stewart Hunter's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rafael Cortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Stewart Hunter!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter misses with a series of wild punches.
Donk. Cortez catches Hunter right on the button with a cross.

Hunter closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Cortez is not content to let Hunter control the position.
Hunter thows a huge punch but Cortez dodges it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hunter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Hunter working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Cortez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Sloppy strikes from Hunter. Those never looked like landing.
Hunter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cortez paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cortez fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Hunter checks it well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Hunter counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nice shot lands for Cortez.
Hunter fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Cortez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hunter will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Cortez up against the cage.

Cortez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hunter looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Hunter shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cortez is trying to defend but Hunter finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Hunter working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Rafael Cortez's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Stewart Hunter really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that AnonymouS logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
